Grand
Mesa Scenic and
Historic Byway Association,
Inc.
is a non-profit corporation, tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code
501 (c)(3).
The Grand Mesa was designated a Colorado Scenic and Historic
Byway on September 21, 1991 by the Colorado Department of
Transportation, designated as a Forest Service (Region 2) Scenic
Byway on June 26, 1992, and as a National Scenic Byway on
September 19, 1996 by the U. S. Department of Transportation.
The
Grand Mesa Scenic and
Historic Byway Association,
Inc. is organized to promote the general welfare and
prosperity along the Grand Mesa Scenic and historic Byway and in
particular, with reference to commercial and civic activities:
(1) To use such means to
protect the interests of it members; (2) to promote integrity and
good faith; (3) to facilitate business intercourse; (4) to
disseminate information relating to the commercial, industrial,
civic, and historic interest along the Grand Mesa Scenic and
Historic Byway with the intent of enhancing the travelers experience
by making the route traversed a memorable adventure and an outdoor
learning experience; (5) to use interpretive signs, short trails,
brochures, and the operation of information centers as well as other
commercial activities to encourage the extension of visitor’s time
in the area; and (6) to provide information and assistance to other
local, state, national and international individuals and
organizations.
