Grand Mesa Lodge offers snow mobile tours, along with Alexander Lake Lodge. Many trails are designated for snowmobile use and are enjoyed daily. The Visitors Center on top is open on the weekend for winter warming.
In the winter the Grand Mesa provides premier cross-country skiing, downhill skiing at Powderhorn Ski Area, and snowmobile riding.
With over 400 miles of trails for winter recreation the Grand Mesa is a favorite for many to enjoy the snow. Cross- country skis can be rented at many of the valley sport shops and on top you can gear up at Mesa Lakes Resort and Leisure Time Sports in Cedaredge.

The premier winter recreation spot along the Byway is Powderhorn Resort. This family focused resort has superb base area facilities including a slopeside inn and restaurant, The Inn at Wildewood. Both skiers and snowboarders are welcome at Powderhorn. Grand Mesa and Powderhorn offer trails for all ages, abilities and all types of winter sports
